Crane for replacement of HVAC units on the roof.

In coordination with our facilities team at the UA Phoenix campus, we are moving forward with priority improvements at our museum building on Washington Street. As some may know, our 1921 building has been mostly vacant since 2011 and, like many old buildings, it needs repairs. Over the last few months, we have been identifying the building's immediate needs with the initial goal of safely relocating the mineral collection back to its original storage space. Today we started HVAC upgrades by replacing several units on the roof.

Pending building improvements include roof repair, an upgraded security system, and environmental abatement - all scheduled for the coming months. Once the new director is in place, he or she will continue to work with UA Facilities to determine next steps for renovation.
