AMMNRE to Exhibit at TGMS 2020
"World Class Minerals" is the theme for the 2020 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show.
Tucson Gem Show Season is rapidly approaching, and we plan to be part of it! Our museum, along with several dozen other esteemed museums and educational organizations, will be showcasing part of our collection at the 2020 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, presented by the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society. The 2020 show runs from February 13-16 at the Tucson Convention Center and is open to the public. The theme this year is "World Class Minerals" so we plan to display some of the best Arizona specimens from our collection. Along with the special exhibits, the TGMS show includes hundreds of retail dealers, lectures and seminars, and educational opportunities for kids. Learn more about TGMS 2020 here.

This was our 2017 display, "Minerals of Arizona's Historic Mining Districts." It included some great specimens from AZ's early mining communities like Bisbee, Miami-Globe, and Tiger. The panoramic photo in the background depicts Bisbee in the year 1910.
Our 2017 case was a big hit with guests at the show.
2018's theme was "Crystals and Crystal Forms" so we picked Arizona pseudomorphs! Pseudomorphs are minerals that have changed chemically or internally from one mineral (or material) to another while retaining their external crystal form. We refer to the new mineral as "after" the original. Pseudomorph specimens in our display underwent different types of changes, including alteration, infiltration, replacement and encrustation.

2019's theme was "Wulfenite is Loved," so we picked some of our favorite AZ wulfenite specimens. Luckily we had a lot to choose from! Wulfenite is a lead molybdate mineral and the official State Mineral of AZ.
This specimen is from the Defiance Mine in Gleeson, Cochise County, AZ.
