On Tuesday, April 9th, AMMNRE volunteers completed a large-scale move of rocks, minerals and mining equipment from our offsite lot downtown to the Superstition Mountain Museum in Apache Junction. Our lot, which we called the "Boneyard," was used as a storage space for overflow donation material for the Mining and Mineral Museum for many years. In February 2019, the time came to clear the lot and return the space to the State of Arizona.

AMMNRE Volunteers rallied for the next month and a half to determine what should return to the museum and what can be dispersed to other educational and non-profit groups. We decided to bring some of the historic mining equipment back to our lot and donate other items to the Superstition Mountain Museum. Other material went to the Arizona Capitol Museum, the Cave Creek Museum, the Earth Science Museum, South Mountain Environmental Education Center, City of Phoenix Parks, and Daisy Mountain Rock and Gem Club.

On April 9, with the help of Precision Heavy Haul. we moved several totes of rocks and minerals and several pieces of mining equipment first to our museum grounds, then to the Superstition Mountain Museum (SMM) in Apache Junction, at the base of the Superstition Mountains. The move took over 10 hours, but was a total success! The SMM plans to use the donations for exhibits, outreach and education.
