The historic Swallow Mine 5-stamp mill is ready for demonstrations!

A few weeks ago we announced that we will be holding our inaugural outdoor event and stamp mill run on Saturday, October 26 from 10am-2pm. The day is almost here and we couldn't be more excited! Event details below. If you have further questions, feel free to contact us.

Schedule

10am: Gates open (use large gate in NW corner of building near parking lot)

10:30am: First mining equipment and stamp mill demonstration / Q&A with Brooks Jeffery

12:30pm: Second mining equipment and stamp mill demonstration / Q&A with Brooks Jeffery

2:00pm: End of event, gates close

Parking

Free parking is available in the ADOA lot directly north of the building. Entrance to the lot is off 15th Ave. north of Washington Street. There should be ample spaces available as the event is being held on a weekend.

Refreshments

We will provide water and Halloween candy! Guests are welcome to bring outside food and drink.

Restrooms

The first floor indoor restrooms will be available for guests. Follow the signs or ask a volunteer for help.

ADA Accessibility

The outdoor mining equipment area is ADA-accessible. The path is mainly decomposed granite and the building is accessible by ramp. If anyone has problems with ADA accessibility, please let a volunteer know.

Other Important Info

This event will be held mainly OUTDOORS, so please be prepared for the sun and weather. Reports show that temperatures will range from the low 70s to low 80s.

All are invited and this event is most certainly family and kid-friendly!

Indoor access to the museum will be available but restricted to marked pathways only. We are a work in progress and we believe visitors should be able to see that. Please stick to the path and do not touch any boxes or shelving inside the museum. As for outdoors - ask the volunteers! Most outdoor exhibits are touchable and interactive.

We look forward to seeing you there!
