Last Workday Before the Heat!
A major accomplishment of this workday was replacement of the cross ties on the incline by Don R and Bill L.

Recently we called upon the Monday Crew to assist with some projects before the mid-June heat wave hit Phoenix. Outdoor activities included working on the stamp mill mortar box, replacing the cross ties on the incline, resetting the collar on the stamp mill feeder, and fixing problems with the primary crusher. Indoor work included removing temporary walls and clearing items out of the Copper Gallery and gift shop area. Enjoy the photos below.
Charlie and Roger removing the stamp mill shaker table cover so that they can work on the mortar box. Charlie constructed a new screen for the stamp mill with 40 mesh filtration - the original screen size used when the stamp mill was running.
Bill L. and Don worked tirelessly on the incline, replacing several cross ties that were last installed in 2003. The Phoenix heat and sun can damage wood over time, so this was an important task to do.
Replacement of the ties was slightly complicated due to differences in size between timbers, but they did a great job! Check out the new (left) and old (right) timbers next to Don.

Indoors, we started by removing the temporary walls between the gift shop/lobby area and the main gallery. Pictured are Stuart, Bill Y., and Denny.
