"Mineral Oddities" at the 2024 Denver Gem and Mineral Show
For the first time in several years, the AMMNRE Museum returned as an exhibitor at the Denver Gem & Mineral Show, held from September 12-15, 2024. The show was held in coordination with the Hardrock Summit at the Westin Westminster hotel. This year’s theme was “Mineral Oddities” and we showcased some strange and unusual specimens from our collection, including pseudomorphs, bird’s nests or “cave pearl” formations, chalcocite, malachite and azurite-replaced petrified wood, “needle ore” hematite, and others. In addition to installing an exhibit at the show, we were able to also visit some fantastic Colorado museums including the Western Museum of Mining and Industry in Colorado Springs, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and the Colorado School of Mines Museum of Earth Science. We look forward to hopefully attending again next year! Enjoy photos of our special exhibit below.
